Program Overview
The Waterloo United Recreational Program introduces players to soccer in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where every child has the opportunity to develop a lifelong love of the game.
Open to players of all skill levels, the program emphasizes participation, enjoyment, personal growth, and physical activity while helping players build confidence, soccer skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Recreational soccer also serves as the foundation of Waterloo United’s player pathway, allowing families to enjoy soccer at their own pace while providing opportunities for players who may wish to pursue more competitive levels in the future.
U3 Parent and Tot Program
The U3 Parent & Tot program provides a fun and engaging introduction to soccer for our youngest players and their caregivers.
Through games, movement activities, and age-appropriate soccer exercises, children begin developing fundamental physical literacy, coordination, and confidence while enjoying quality time with a parent or guardian.
U4 to U7 Active Start Program
The U4-U7 Active Start Program continues to develop physical literacy, fundamental soccer skills, and confidence through fun and engaging activities.
Players are introduced to formal gameplay through small-sided matches, allowing them to begin applying their skills in a positive environment where participation, learning, and enjoyment remain the priority.
U7 Player Pathway: At U7, coaches may identify players who demonstrate a passion for the game and may be ready for the next stage of development. These families may be encouraged to register for the U7 Pre-Academy Program, which introduces a more structured training environment, year-round team programming, and a higher level of commitment.
U8–U9 House League Program
The U8–U9 House League Program provides players with a traditional team soccer experience in a fun, supportive, and community-focused environment.
Players are placed on a team with a consistent coach and teammates for the season and participate in practices and league matches while continuing to develop technical skills, game understanding, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

TEAMMATE REQUEST
Waterloo United will make every effort to accommodate placement on a team with ONE other registered player if submitted by the April 15th deadline. All teammate requests must be one-to-one reciprocated requests. One-sided requests will not be considered. Should you have special circumstances or medical conditions that merit special consideration, please provide a note in writing once your registration has been completed. Teammate-Request-Policy
FEE ASSISTANCE
The City of Waterloo Fee Assistance Leisure Access Program is a program of financial support for permanent residents with low income living in Waterloo, that helps individuals participate in the City of Waterloo recreational and affiliated minor sport and arts programs. The assistance is given in the form of a credit to eligible individuals. Eligibility is based on total family income. Waterloo Minor Soccer Club wishes to acknowledge the contributions of the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families Jumpstart Program.
Volunteer Coaches
Our recreational programs rely on enthusiastic parent volunteers to help create a positive and enjoyable experience for every player.
Volunteer coaches help:
- Create a fun and welcoming team environment
- Support player safety
- Encourage learning and participation
- Help manage small-sided games and basic restarts
Coaches are supported by Waterloo United and may be required to complete Game Leader training.
