PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Waterloo United presents an indoor recreational program led by paid instructors and Parent Volunteers following a curriculum developed by professional staff and approved by Canada Soccer. Our approach incorporates research approved strategies to help keep kids engaged, having fun and learning some skills through implicit learning.

What can you expect in each 50-minute session (U4-U7):

  • Sessions will commence with some physical literacy and coordination, and placing players in situations where skills will emerge through careful manipulation of the environment. Skills Instructors will lead the drills with assistance from the volunteer parent game leaders.
  • A variety of games (approximately 20-25 min) will conclude each session, allowing players to learn through playing while applying skills in context. Parent volunteers (game leaders) will run the game portion of the program.

We are excited to be able to provide a safe and progressive recreational soccer program that will help keep your son and daughter engaged in physical activity, enjoying soccer with their peers and improving their competence and confidence over the winter months.

Our U3 Physical Literacy Program offers a fun and enjoyable experience for our youngest players. It provides an opportunity for players to use their imaginations, be creative and learn through trial and error. We offer age and stage appropriate development activities suitable to this physical and cognitive stage of development. Parent participation is required and encouraged for this age group.

Our skills development instructors will oversee each session, and Parent participation is required and strongly encouraged for this age group. Please come dressed to participate.

All players must register in their age appropriate divisions.

Program Modification (if required):

If in the event government mandates do not allow for game play at any point throughout the season, sessions to be adjusted to ensure distance is maintained and all mandates are met.

A focus will be put play-based physical literacy through fun activities both with and without a soccer ball. While players may have to remain distanced, playing with teammates and friends is a key component of the program so interactive drills while remaining safely apart will be implemented.
