Becoming a WMSC Match Official

Join the WMSC referee family and advance your soccer knowledge, enjoyment, and involvement in the game! Earn some money while keeping fit and having fun. Full attendance at the course is necessary to earn the certification.


The Entry Level Clinic is intended for those who wish to become an accredited Match Officials and are 14 years of age (as of March 31st of the current year) or older. Held over two days, is course is 16 hours in duration and provides 12 hours of classroom instruction and 4 hours on-field. Participants will need to complete an open book the online exam within a 48-hour window following completion of the clinic. They must complete the exam in one sitting and will have 1 hour to answer all the multiple-choice questions. Participants achieving a mark of 80% or higher will be accredited as a Canada Soccer Match Officials and will be able to officiate 11v11 and 9v9 games.

  • Participants can register themselves by visiting, choose search by Club Waterloo. Click on the Register button for the appropriate course and follow the instructions to complete your registration. Make sure that you do not forget the password you choose when registering as you will need it every time you access your refcentre account.
  • Once your registration has been approved you will receive an email with further instructions on how to complete the payment with WMSC. Payment is due prior to the start of the course.
