U4-U6 Active Start Indoor

These Saturday mornings, coed, programs are specifically geared for boys and girls born in 2013, 2014 or 2015. Children aged 4 will play in the U4 program and children aged 5 and 6 will participate in the U6 program.  All sessions will be hosted at Bechtel Park indoor field. Our program aligns with Ontario Soccer’s LTPD Active Start program. The sessions will be lead by Parent Volunteers and supported with Skill Instructors under the leadership of WMSC Technical Director.

WMSC utilizes volunteer coaches for our Recreational Soccer programs. Volunteering is a terrific way to get involved in soccer, while at the same time supporting your club and your community.
Coaches, if you are not the primary account holder in the PowerUp registration system,  you are required to have an individual account with a unique email address. Once you have created your profile you can volunteer with the club by clicking the VOLUNTEER NOW in the main menu. Returning coaches – please use your current coaching profile.

The objective of the Active Start program is to get children moving and keep them active.  The physical curriculum involves adults and children in play activities that build basic fundamental movement skills such as: running- jumping- twisting- throwing- catching. Children are encouraged to enjoy becoming “friends with the ball” through fun and imaginative games and experiencing the following: running with the ball, stopping and changing direction with the ball, dribbling, kicking, shooting. More information regarding the program curriculum can be found here.

Long Term Player Development is Canada’s structure for athletic development broadly adopted by youth sports.  Players in the Active Start phase should participate in a variety of activities. Swimming and well-structured gymnastics programs are recommended to enhance the full range of basic movement skills and physical literacy.
