Empower Athletics

Coaches, Players, and Parents,

The Waterloo Minor Soccer Club is proud to offer an exciting and new experience for our female players.  The Club will host EmpowerAthletics at RIM Park (Room 207) on January 25, February 8 and March 29 at 7:15 pm.

The three sessions are for the following age groups:

  • Friday, January 25th – Players U9 to U12
  • Friday, February 8th – Players U13 and up
  • Friday, March 29th – Parents of female players

The workshops will be customized for players of each age group.  All female coaches and team officials are encouraged to attend any and all sessions. Empower Athletics host workshops and interactive sessions for female athletes, coaches, and parents.  They focus on creating a stronger community for girls in sport.

Empower Athletics owner and workshop presenter is Chelsea Spencer. As a player, Chelsea Spencer represented Team Ontario and Team Canada while also attending NCAA Division 1 schools, the University of Louisville and Niagara University on a full scholarship. Spencer played semi-professionally for the Toronto Lady Lynx and Hamilton FC Rage, and played in the FA Women’s Premier League in England.

Chelsea Spencer founded Empower Athletics just over a year ago. Since being a competitive soccer coach for the past eight years, Chelsea noticed that girls were losing interest and dropping out of sports far too young. Understanding how important sports are for girls, she decided to pursue her passion for supporting female athletes. All with the intention of keeping girls in sport.

Empower Athletics’ message is being spread through their group empowerment workshops, one-on-one mentoring, community events, and local partnerships (True Sport, Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, Canadian Women’s Foundation, Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment, SPINCO Oakville). To learn more about Chelsea and her experience as an athlete, and coach, please visit https://www.empowerfutsal.com/chelsea-spencer.

All workshops are free of charge and only available for WMSC players, parents and team officials. Please note that player workshops are for players only; parents are not able to attend.
